Hip hop producer, DJ and jazz record collector Ol' Burger Beats has been steadily releasing beats and independent hip hop albums since 2014. Since then the Oslo-based beatmaker has established a dedicated following due to his heavily jazz- and soul influenced sound. That sound has been likened to many of OBB’s heroes and taken him to playing Boiler Room shows, releasing more than 10 albums on wax and building a state-of-the-art home studio and vinyl archive. His albums are streamed more than 40 million times on Spotify alone, and he has worked with many of the most talented names of the hip hop underground.

Vuyo is one of those names. The South-African/Norwegian rapper quickly became one of Norway’s most exciting lyricists. In 2018 Vuyo released his debut EP ‘Home Cooked Meals’ with the arts collective North Of. The EP gave him a chance to showcase his ability both as a songwriter and a producer. He continued his sonic journey and in 2019 he joined forces with Boy Pablo drummer Sigmund Vestrheim and his neo soul group GiddyGang to release a soulful mixtape. However, it was his collaborations with Ol’ Burger Beats that would prove to be the most fruitful.

In the span of a year the duo recorded what would become two collaborative projects for the legendary Berlin-based label Jakarta Records. The two Oles - Ole Vuyo and Ole-Birger - released their first EP, All Yours, in the summer of 2020. The EP was critically acclaimed, and though it mostly consisted of leftover material from this upcoming album, it was a commercial success. The soulful single Do Me That Favor has reached more than a million plays alone. The vinyl dub plates sold out quickly, and are in high demand amongst record collectors these days.

The new album, Dialogue., is inspired by spiritual and revolutionary jazz records, sweet soul music and classic New York hip hop. Vuyo’s sister Lunga Ntila has made the album cover as well as the interludes that tie the album together. It’s a left field and conceptual rap album, exploring Vuyo’s diaspora experience as well as the youthful hunger of the two creatives, and this album is urging us all to take part in their Dialogue.
